Top 6 Simple Ways To Break Smartphone Addiction And Stay Productive

Mobile devices are frequently used to access other overused technology, such as social networking, and gaming. One sort of technological addiction is the uncontrollable use of smartphones. Smartphones are increasingly being used as the user's main computer. The connection is feasible almost everywhere thanks to data plans and the nearly universal availability of Wi-Fi.

According to research, every day, the average cell phone user touches their device 2,617 times. On average, people use their phones for three hours and fifteen minutes every day. Within three minutes after the preceding call, 50% of all phone pickups occur.

Researchers at the University of Maryland's International Center for Media and the Public Agenda (ICMPA) conducted a study in which they restricted user access to social media for 24 hours. Participants spoke of their feelings in ways that are frequently used to indicate addiction: Withdrawing, desperately desiring, anxious, twitchy, unpleasant, jittery, and crazy.

Top 6 Simple Ways to Break Smartphone Addiction And Stay Productive

1. Reserve a day to stay away from your phone.
2. Conduct a 30-Day Experiment to reset your usage.
3. Use apps to improve self-control.
4.  Avoid charging your smartphone close to your bed.
5. Put your phone away as soon as you enter the house.
6. Modify your phone's settings.

1. Reserve a day to stay away from your phone:

Set your phone away one day every week (often a Saturday or Sunday). Make it a habit after that. This will help you get refreshed and focused to be more efficient.

2. Conduct a 30-Day Experiment to reset your usage:

Aligning your usage with more important pursuits in life by using your smartphone only for calls and text messages for a 30-Day reset period with no other apps allowed. This might seem very hard to do, but as time goes on, you can start with a daily, then proceed to weekly.

3. Use apps to improve self-control:

Nowadays, there is an app for just about everything. In fact, there are numerous excellent apps designed specifically to help us set time limits for using our smartphones. Some are as follows:

Space: To control your habits, set goals, and monitor your daily progress.

Forest: Remain attentive and focused. Forest is a gorgeously designed app that uses gamification to increase productivity and plants actual trees based on your individual phone usage patterns.

Moment: Moment encourages you to use your phone in a healthy manner by giving you quick, daily activities.

Flipd: Lock distracting apps for total attention.

4. Avoid charging your smartphone close to your bed:

Do not charge your phones in your bedroom. Keeping your cell phone out of your bedroom will help you avoid many of the side effects of excessive use, such as poor sleep, impaired communication, and decreased intimacy.

5. Put your phone away as soon as you enter the house:

After a long day at work, put your phone away in a drawer or cabinet. All people can benefit from this practice, but I believe it is crucial if you have family members who require our full attention, such as children or a spouse.

6. Modify your phone's settings:

One of the most popular suggestions for cutting down on cell phone usage is to find tips and tricks by merely adjusting your phone's settings. These are the most typical suggestions:

OFF the notifications
Turn the monitor to black and white.
Get rid of any distraction-generating apps from your home screen.
Create a longer passphrase.
Alter your browser's settings to airplane mode.

Although this technology is helping humanity in diverse ways, here are some serious effects of its addiction; lowering the level of conversation quality, affecting problem-solving and short-term memory,  the way we sleep, less emotional recovery, increase distress in young children, expanding obesity and finally, smartphone addiction and sadness are positively correlated.

Utilizing smartphones properly has become another skill one must learn in order not to abuse their usage. And this will help you stay productive at work and increase your performance steadily.
